Ang Gamma Ceti (γ Cet, γ Ceti) ay isang sistemang pambituin sa ekwador ng konstelasyong Cetus. Mayroon itong tradisyonal na pangalan na Kaffaljidhma at mayroong malawak na kalakhan ng 3.47.[2] Base sa sukatang paralaks, makikita ang lokasyon ng bituin sa layong 80 sinag-taon (24.4 parsec) from Earth.[1]

Etymology

Nagmula ang pamagat na Kaffaljidhma mula sa salitang Arabiko na الكف الجذماء Al Kaff al Jidhmah, na may kahulugang "Ang putol na maikling kamay".[9] Ayon sa katalogo ng mga bituin sa Technical Memorandum 33-507 - A Reduced Star Catalog Containing 537 Named Stars, orihinal na pamagat ang Al Kaff al Jidhmah sa limang bituin: γ Cet bilang Kaffaljidhma, ξ1 Cet bilang Al Kaff al Jidhmah I, ξ2 Cet bilang Al Kaff al Jidhmah II, δ Cet bilang Al Kaff al Jidhmah III at μ Cet bilang Al Kaff al Jidhmah IV (hindi kasama ang α Cet at λ Cet).[10]

Sa Wikang Tsino, tumutukoy ang 天囷 (Tiān Qūn), na may kahulugang Circular Celestial Granary, sa asterismong naglalaman ng γ Ceti, α Ceti, κ1 Ceti, λ Ceti, μ Ceti, ξ1 Ceti, ξ2 Ceti, ν Ceti, δ Ceti, 75 Ceti, 70 Ceti, 63 Ceti at 66 Ceti. Dahil dito, nakilala ang γ Ceti bilang 天囷八 (Tiān Qūn bā, Ingles: the Eighth Star of Circular Celestial Granary.)[11]
