Ang Proteobacteria ay tinatawag ding Photosynthetic Bacteria.[1] Ito ay mgaGram-Negative rods, cocci, spirilla.[2][3] Ilan sa mga ito ay may Flagella. Kadalasan ang mga selula (kulay-lila, luntian, dilaw, lila, at kayumanggi) ay dahil sa dami ng carotenoids. Ang ibang selula ay nagtataglay ng Gas Vacuoles.
