Ang pandemya ng COVID-19 sa Taiwan ay bahagi ng pandemyang pandaigdigan ng coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) na dulot ng severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Noong Nobyembre 26, 2021, naisagawa na ang 8,281,281 pagsubok ng Taiwan, na 16,566 dito ang kumpirmadong kaso, kabilang ang 848 namatay.[1]

Kumpirmadong kumalat ang bayrus sa Taiwan noong Enero 21, 2020, sa unang kaso ng isang 50 taong gulang na babae na nagtuturo sa Wuhan, Tsina.[4] Pinagsama-sama ng pamahalaan ng Taiwan ang datos mula sa pambansang sistema ng pangangalaga ng kalusugan, imigrasyon, at mga awtoridad ng adwana upang tumulong sa pagkilala at pagtugon sa bayrus. Kinoordinado ang pagsisikap ng pamahalaan sa pamamagitan ng Pambansang Sentro ng Atasan ng Kalusugan o National Health Command Center (NHCC) ng Mga Sentro ng Taiwan para sa Kontrol ng Sakit, na itinatag upang tumulong sa pamamahala ng sakuna para sa epidemya kasunod ng pagsiklab ng SARS noong 2003.[5][6] Sinabi ng Journal of the American Medical Association na kasama ang Taiwan sa 124 magkakahiwalay ng bagay na aaksyunan upang maiwasan ang pagkalat ng sakit, kabilang ang maagang pagsala ng mga paglipad mula Tsina at ang pagbakas ng indibiduwal na kaso.[7][8]

Simula noong Marso 19, 2020, binawalan ang mga dayuhang mamamayan na pumasok sa Taiwan na may ilang eksepsyon tulad ng mga nagsasagawa ng natitirang kontrata sa negosyo at yaong mga may hawak ng balidong Sertipiko ng Banyagang Residente, diplomatikong kredensyal, o ibang opisyal na dokumentasyon at espesyal na permiso.[9] Nailabas ang mga pagbabawal simula noong niluwagan ang pagbabawal sa mga banyagang mag-aaral ng pamantasan at yaong mga nagnanais ng gamutin ang kanilang sakit sa Taiwan, na kinakailangang may paunamg pag-apruba ng pamahalaan.[10][11] Kailangan ng lahat ng papasok sa bansa na sumailalim sa kumpletong labing-apat na araw na kuwarantenas bago dumating maliban sa mga naglalakbay dahil sa negosyo mula sa mga bansang natukoy na mababa o katamtaman ang panganib, na sasailalim sa lima o pitong araw na kuwarantenas at kailangang sumailalim din sa pagsubok para sa COVID-19.[12][13]

Bilang tugon sa biglaang pagtaas ng kaso sa buong mundo noong Oktubre at Nobyembre 2020, ipinabatid ng Taiwan na lahat ng manlalakbay na dumadaan at pupunta sa Taiwan, hindi alintana ang kabansaan, pinagmulan, o layunin, ay kailang magsumite ng negatibong resulta ng COVID-19 na isinagawa sa loob ng tatlong araw na may paggawa mula ng dumating.[14][15][16][17] Binibigay ang mga eksepsyon sa mga manlalakabay na tumugon sa mga emerhensiyang pampamilya o mula sa mga bansa na walang pansubok na sariling-pagbayad o sa-pangangailangan, subalit kinakailangan silang nakaupong hiwalay sa ibang pasahero at kumuha ng pagsubok na sariling-pagbayad kapag dumating sa Taiwan.[18]

Noong 2020, may mas maliit na epekto ang pandemya sa Taiwan kaysa sa karamihan sa ibang mga bansang industralisado, na may kabuuang pitong namatay.[19][20] Naabot ang pinakamataas na bilang ng aktibong mga kaso sa unang bugso na ito noong Abril 6, 2020 sa 307 kaso, na naangkat ang napakalaking mayorya nito.[21] Nakatanggap ng internasyunal na papuri ang pamamahala ng Taiwan sa pagsiklab para sa pagiging epektibo nito sa pagkuwarantenas ng mga tao.[8][22][23]

Bagaman, nagdulot ng isang matalim na pag-akyat ng kaso noong Abril 2021 ang pagsiklab ng sakit sa mga tripulante ng China Airlines na pagmamay-ari ng estado ng Taiwan, pangunahin sa kalakhang lugar ng Taipei, mula noong gitnang Mayo. Naikabit ng mga kritiko ang kalaunang isyu sa ilang kadahilanan, kabilang ang istratehiya ng Taiwan ng pagtutuon sa sarili nitong pagsusulong ng bakuna at produksyon, na ginagawang hindi gaanong handa na mabilis na bumili ng mga bakuna sa ibayong-dagat kapag mayroon na ang mga ito; at ang pag-aatubuli ng mga residente na mabakunahan dahil sa nakaraang mababang bilang ng kaso.[26] Karagdagan pa dito, pinaninawalaan na may ginampanan ang mabigat ng pag-uulat na pambihirang pangalawang epekto o side effect ng bakuna ng AstraZeneca. Bagaman, labis na tumaas ang pangangailangan sa bakuna, sa pagbugso ng kaso noong Mayo 2021.[27]
