I am Jomarie R. Romaquin, I am an events and travel photographer in the province of Aklan, Philippines. I am a graduate of Bachelor of Agriculture from a state university. However, my interest for photography became more prominent during my employment at the same university as a Library clerk. I saved up my wages until I was able to purchase my very first digital camera in 2010. It was nothing fancy but I was able to practice photography as a beginner.

I began capturing different photos of everyday life of people around me, especially those I find interesting. Photography became my creative outlet. This is what opened my eyes to a broader sense of the world. I always find myself capturing moments and details to get a sense of the bigger picture. A national newspaper began noticing my photos and I became a Manila Bulletin Picture Perfect Featured Contributor. In 2014, I eventually began accepting clients for small events during my days off and was able to setup a freelance photography business on the side, Jomarie Romaquin Photography. Slowly, I built my arsenal of photography equipment. I started covering local festivals in Aklan Province for fun. This was when a photo of mine ended up in the pages of Reader’s Digest Unseen Asia 2014. In 2017, I found a business partner and started 14 Megapixels Photography and began accepting bigger events. I realized I was not made for the 9-5 work setup. I resigned from my job as a clerk and focused full-time on my freelance photography business. Having my time in my own hands, I started street and landscape photography and joined different local and national photo contests. I was given the 2nd Place, Aklan Ruins & Heritage Photo Contest in 2019, then 2nd Place at the Depart of Agriculture Regional #BeRICEponsible Photo Contest in 2022, and 1st Place at the Aklan Beyond Boracay Photo Contest in Full Color in 2022.

At present, 14 Megapixels Photography and Jomarie Romaquin Photography is one of the sought after freelance events photographer in the province. Meanwhile, I still make time for my passion for street and landscape photography in between my schedule.
