English: Seal of Uthai Thani Province of Thailand in accordance to the announcement for official seals of Thai province, print in the Royal Thai Government Gazette in 2004.
ไทย: เครื่องหมายราชการของจังหวัดอุทัยธานี (ตราประจำจังหวัดอุทัยธานี) ตามประกาศสำนักนายกรัฐมนตรี เรื่อง กำหนดภาพเครื่องหมายราชการ ตามพระราชบัญญัติเครื่องหมายราชการ พุทธศักราช 2482 (ฉบับที่ 214) [ว่าด้วยการกำหนดเครื่องหมายราชการประจำจังหวัด 75 จังหวัด] ซึ่งได้ประกาศใช้แทนตราประจำจังหวัดแบบเดิมอย่างเป็นทางการนับแต่ พ.ศ. 2547 เป็นต้นมา (ยึดถือตามวันที่ประกาศในราชกิจจานุเบกษา)

คำอธิบายตราประจำจังหวัด ของสำนักราชบัณฑิต เป็นบรรยาย ดังนี้

รูปสมเด็จพระปฐมบรมมหาชนกประทับบนพลับพลา ภาพภูเขา คือเขาสะแกกรัง ซึ่งมีพระมณฑปและพระพุทธบาท จำลองประดิษฐานอยู่ รูปต้นไม้และพื้นดินคือ อาณาบริเวณที่ อุดมสมบูรณ์ ไปด้วยทรัพยากรธรรมชาติ รัศมีของพระอาทิตย์ หมายถึงรุ่งอรุณเป็นความหมายเดียวกับชื่อเมือง ซึ่งแปลว่า เมืองพระอาทิตย์แรกขึ้น

ตามประกาศดังกล่าว จึงถือว่าภาพนี้มีฐานะเป็นเครื่องหมายราชการ ตามพระราชบัญญัติเครื่องหมายราชการ พุทธศักราช 2482

รูป: พลับพลาจตุรมุข หน้าบันประดิษฐานตราจักรี เป็นที่ประดิษฐานพระรูปสมเด็จพระปฐมบรมมหาชนกในพระบาทสมเด็จพระพุทธยอดฟ้าจุฬาโลกมหาราช ตั้งอยู่บนยอดเขาแก้ว (เขาสะแกกรัง)

ความหมาย: พลับพลาจตุรมุข หน้าบันประดิษฐานตราจักรี เป็นที่ประดิษฐานพระรูป สมเด็จพระปฐมบรมมหาชนกในพระบาทสมเด็จพระพุทธยอดฟ้าจุฬาโลกมหาราช ด้วยมีหลักฐานจากจดหมายเหตุว่า บ้านสะแกกรังอันเป็นที่ตั้งของจังหวัดอุทัยธานี เป็นบ้านเกิดของสมเด็จพระปฐมบรมมหาชนก ซึ่งมีพระนามเดิมว่า “ทองดี” รับราชการมีตำแหน่งเป็น พระอักษรสุนทรศาสตร์ เสมียนตรากรมมหาดไทย และเจ้าพระยาจักรีศรีองครักษ์ สมุหนายกเสนาบดีในสมัยกรุงศรีอยุธยา ตามลำดับ ครั้นเมื่อพระบาทสมเด็จพระพุทธยอดฟ้าจุฬาโลกมหาราช (ทองด้วง) บุตรชายคนโต ได้สถาปนา “พระบรมราชจักรีวงศ์” ได้สถาปนาพระอัฐิพระราชบิดาเป็น “สมเด็จพระปฐมบรมมหาชนก” เมื่อ พ.ศ. ๒๓๓๘
