You are humbly invited to organize the Feminism and Folklore 2025 writing competition from February 1, 2025, to March 31, 2025 on your local Wikipedia. This year, Feminism and Folklore will focus on feminism, women's issues, and gender-focused topics for the project, with a Wiki Loves Folklore gender gap focus and a folk culture theme on Wikipedia.

You can help Wikipedia's coverage of folklore from your area by writing or improving articles about things like folk festivals, folk dances, folk music, women and queer folklore figures, folk game athletes, women in mythology, women warriors in folklore, witches and witch hunting, fairy tales, and more. Users can help create new articles, expand or translate from a generated list of suggested articles.

Organisers are requested to work on the following action items to sign up their communities for the project:

1. Create a page for the contest on the local wiki.
2. Set up a campaign on CampWiz tool.
3. Create the local list and mention the timeline and local and international prizes.
4. Request local admins for site notice.
5. Link the local page and the CampWiz link on the meta project page.

This year, the Wiki Loves Folklore Tech Team has introduced two new tools to enhance support for the campaign. These tools include the Article List Generator by Topic and CampWiz. The Article List Generator by Topic enables users to identify articles on the English Wikipedia that are not present in their native language Wikipedia. Users can customize their selection criteria, and the tool will present a table showcasing the missing articles along with suggested titles. Additionally, users have the option to download the list in both CSV and wikitable formats. Notably, the CampWiz tool will be employed for the project for the first time, empowering users to effectively host the project with a jury. Both tools are now available for use in the campaign. Magandang araw po sa kanilang lahat! Napadaan po ako rito mula sa pagbisita sa profile ni G. Jojit fb. Medyo malilito po ako dahil marami akong link na dinaanan bago naparito.

Ang paksang nais kong iparating sa inyo ay ang artikulong "Pamamatnugot". Una ko pong hinanap ang Talk Page ngunit wala po ito. At batay na rin sa karanasan sa ibang wiki, nababaon sa limot ang mga Talk Page kung walang ibang lalahok.

Tinignan at sinundan ko po ang mga sanggunian ngunit wala po ni isang nakatala ang nagpapatibay na ang pamamatnugot ay editing sa wikang Ingles.

Namuhay po ako sa pamayanang Tagalog at kaduda-duda ang tumbasang ito. Hindi ko rin po narinig na ginamit ito sa loob ng paaralan, akamediya, propesyon, larangan, at sa mga nalimbag na talasalitaan.

Ang pamamatnugot na sinasang-ayuhan ng KWF at UP SWF ay tumutukoy sa pangangasiwa, pamamahala, at pamumuno ng titulo ng isang taong tinatawag na patnugot, na siyang matitiyak naman online (https://kwfdiksiyonaryo.ph/?query=pamamatnugot https://diksiyonaryo.ph/search/pamamatnugot). Maganda po at malalim ang kasaysayan ng patnugot. Ito ay titulo ng isang lider noong sinauna at ginagamit pa rin sa ngayon.

Samantala ang salitang Ingles na edit sa Tagalog ay baguhin, iwasto, ihanda, paikliin, ayusin, gumawa ng modipikasyon, ayon sa gamit. Kahit sa Tagalog Wikipedia mismo ang tab sa itaas ng bawat artikulo ay "Baguhin". Narinig at naranasan ko rin na ginagamit ang salitang repaso, na hiram naman mula sa Espanyol, para sa katulad na bagay.

Sa kabila nito, ayon kay Leo English (https://archive.org/details/englishtagalogdi00leoj/page/304/mode/2up), ang edit sa lahok sa pangalawang bilang:

(1) v. to prepare another person's writings for publication: Maghanda (Magsaayos, Magwasto) ng sinulat ng iba upang mailathala. Ihanda...

(2) edit a newspaper, etc., (by directing); Mamatnugot, pamatnugutan. He edits the literary section of that magazine: Pinamamatnugutan niya ang pitak na pampanitikan ng magasing iyon.

Pansinin po nating ang nasa loob ng panaklong - by directing. Ang gamit ng edit po rito ay may katungkulan. Sa dalawang lahok ng edit, ito lang ang linagyan ni G. English (1977) ng mamatnugot/pamatnugutan at hindi ang una dahil ang nauna ay hindi pinapatnugutan.

Ang Ingles na edit ay may apat na kahulugan ayon sa Merriam-Webster (https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/edit). Ang unang lahok ni G. English ay pasok sa 1a at 1c. Ang pangalawang lahok ni G. English ay pasok sa 2 naman. Ang tinutukoy ng Tagalog Wikipedia na proseso ng pagpili at paghahanda ng wika, mga larawan o imahen, tunog, bidyo, o pelikula sa pamamagitan ng mga proseso ng pagtatama o pagwawasto, organisasyon, at iba pang mga modipikasyon o pagbabago sa sari-saring mga midya ay pasok sa 1a, 1b, at 1c ng Merriam-Webster.

Samakatuwid, misguided at misinformed pong tawaging pamamatnugot ang isang proseso. Ang patnugot at pamamatnugot ay ekslusibo sa supervising, directing, pamumuno, may katungkulan. Hindi lahat ng nag-eedit ng typo o gumagamit sa Wikipedia ay nagiging patnugot agad. Ang pamamatnugot (editorship) ay may kapangyarihan. Kung gagamitin ang mga makabagong titulo, ang pamamatnugot ay lalapag sa mga administrator, moderator, wiki owner/founder, bureaucrat, content manager, thread manager, at iba na may kapangyarihan at hindi sa mga random user.

Batid kong nais ng Pamayanang Wikipedia sa Tagalog na magkaroon ng lahok para sa Ingles na editing. Nais ko pong marinig at malaman kung may mga patibay na ang pamamatnugot na siyang tunay na kahulugan nito. Bakit hindi na lamang gamitin ang higit na nauunawaan at ginagamit sa totoong buhay tulad ng pagbabago, pagwawasto, at pagsasaayos? At kung masyadong palasak, bakit di gumamit na lamang ng panaklong na higit na madali at mainam?

Ako po ay bukas sa pagpapaliwanag, baka ako ay nagugulumihanan at naliligaw ng diwa lamang. Ngunit bukal sa looban ko po ang hangad na maiwasto ang pagkalihis sa paggamit ng wikang sariling atin. Sana po ay agad itong maisaayos upang maiwasan ang pagkalat at paglaganap ng misinformation, disinformation, at fake news, na pawang mga mabibigat na suliranin sa ngayon. Bakit hindi na lamang gamitin ang higit na nauunawaan at ginagamit sa totoong buhay tulad ng pagbabago, pagwawasto, at pagsasaayos?

@Guan Yu Shu Han sasabihin ko po sana na masyadong general para maintindihan ng isang tagapagsalita ng Tagalog ang gusto ninyong ipalit sa titulo ng artikulong Pamamatnugot, lalo pa't specific ang tinutukoy nito mula pa lamang sa kahulugan. At tsaka pati ginagamit ang salitang "pamamatnugot" sa mga literaturang Tagalog in place of the word "editing":

Gumawa pa rin si de la Costa ng isa pang pagsasalin at pamamatnugot sa kanyang akdang The Trial of Rizal...

Salamat po sa link, ngunit wala pa rin po rito yung nagpapatibay na ang pamamatnugot ay isang proseso. Hindi ko po tinatanggi na may pamamatnugot na salita sa Tagalog. Ang tinatanong ko po ay saan ginamit sa literaturang Tagalog na ito ay proseso gaya ng pakahulugan ninyo sa itaas. Ang "pagsasalin at pamamatnugot" ay hindi "translating and editing." Kung bubuuin nyo ang pangungusap na binigay ninyo, mali at awkward ang labas nito.

Sa quick search at pagbabasa, ang pamamatnugot na naka-highlight ay lumalapat pa rin sa pangalawang pakahulugan ni G. English. Samantala, ang editing na proseso na ginagamit sa Tagalog Wikipedia ay nasa unang pakahulugan. Subalit mali ang gamit at anyo nito (sa Tagalog Wikipedia) batay na rin sa ating balarila. Sa pananaw ko, pangunahing naglilingkod ang tlwiki sa mga mambabasa sa Pilipinas kung kaya dapat sumunod sa mas-mahigpit na batas ng Pilipinas (na hindi nagbibigay ng karapatang kalayaan sa panorama). You can see how suggestions are provided in the new dashboard  in two groups ("Create new pages" and "Expand with new sections")-one for each activity.

In the current dashboard, you will notice that you can't adjust suggestions to select topics or community-created collections. Also, you can't expand on existing articles by translating new sections.

Apologies for writing this message in English.

I am writing on behalf of the Campaigns product team who are planning a global deployment of the CampaignEvents extension to all Wikipedias, starting with a small batch in April 2025.

The Tagalog Wikipedia is one of the wikis proposed for this phase! This extension is designed to help organizers plan and manage events, wikiprojects, and other on-wiki collaborations. Also making these events/wikiprojects more discoverable. You can find out more here on the FAQs page.

The three main features of this extension are:

1. Event Registration: A simple way to sign up for events on the wiki.
2. Event List: A calendar to show all events on your wiki. Soon, it will include WikiProjects too.
3. Invitation Lists: A tool to find editors who might want to join, based on their edits.

Please Note:

This extension comes with a new user right called "Event Organizer," which will be managed by the administrators of Tagalog Wikipedia, allowing the admins to decide when and how the extension tools are used on the wikis.

Once released, the organizer-facing tools (Event Registration and Invitation Lists) can only be used if someone is granted the Event-Organizer right, managed by the admins.

The only tool that is available immediately after release is the ‘’Collaboration List’’, which is a read-only page that lists events and WikiProjects that people can join.

The extension is already on some wikis,e.g Meta, Wikidata, English Wikipedia (see full list). Check out the phased deployment plan and share your thoughts by March 31, 2025.

your feedback and thoughts are especially important because this extension includes a new user right called "Event Organizer," which will be managed by you. Once you take a look at the details above and on the linked pages, we suggest drafting a community policy outlining criteria for granting this right on Tagalog Wikipedia. The proposed modifications to the Universal Code of Conduct Enforcement Guidelines and the U4C Charter are now on Meta-wiki for community notice in advance of the voting period. This final draft was developed from the previous two rounds of community review. Community members will be able to vote on these modifications starting on 17 April 2025. The vote will close on 1 May 2025, and results will be announced no later than 12 May 2025. The U4C election period, starting with a call for candidates, will open immediately following the announcement of the review results. More information will be posted on the wiki page for the election soon.

Hi all! We have good news to share regarding the ongoing problem with graphs and charts affecting all wikis that use them.

As you probably know, the old Graph extension was disabled in 2023 due to security reasons. We’ve worked in these two years to find a solution that could replace the old extension, and provide a safer and better solution to users who wanted to showcase graphs and charts in their articles. We therefore developed the Charts extension, which will be replacing the old Graph extension and potentially also the EasyTimeline extension.

After successfully deploying the extension on Italian, Swedish, and Hebrew Wikipedia, as well as on MediaWiki.org, as part of a pilot phase, we are now happy to announce that we are moving forward with the next phase of deployment, which will also include your wiki.

The deployment will happen in batches, and will start from May 6. Please, consult our page on MediaWiki.org to discover when the new Charts extension will be deployed on your wiki. You can also consult the documentation about the extension on MediaWiki.org.

This year, the term of 2 (two) Community- and Affiliate-selected Trustees on the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees will come to an end [1]. The Board invites the whole movement to participate in this year’s selection process and vote to fill those seats.

The Elections Committee will oversee this process with support from Foundation staff [2]. The Governance Committee, composed of trustees who are not candidates in the 2025 community-and-affiliate-selected trustee selection process (Raju Narisetti, Shani Evenstein Sigalov, Lorenzo Losa, Kathy Collins, Victoria Doronina and Esra’a Al Shafei) [3], is tasked with providing Board oversight for the 2025 trustee selection process and for keeping the Board informed. More details on the roles of the Elections Committee, Board, and staff are here [4].

Here are the key planned dates:

• May 22 – June 5: Announcement (this communication) and call for questions period [6]
• June 17 – July 1, 2025: Call for candidates
• July 2025: If needed, affiliates vote to shortlist candidates if more than 10 apply [5]
• August 2025: Campaign period
• August – September 2025: Two-week community voting period
• October – November 2025: Background check of selected candidates
• Board’s Meeting in December 2025: New trustees seated

Call for Questions

In each selection process, the community has the opportunity to submit questions for the Board of Trustees candidates to answer. The Election Committee selects questions from the list developed by the community for the candidates to answer. Candidates must answer all the required questions in the application in order to be eligible; otherwise their application will be disqualified. This year, the Election Committee will select 5 questions for the candidates to answer. The selected questions may be a combination of what’s been submitted from the community, if they’re alike or related. [link]

Another way to be involved with the 2025 selection process is to be an Election Volunteer. Election Volunteers are a bridge between the Elections Committee and their respective community. Paglipat ng TeleRadyo Serbisyo sa DZMM TeleRadyo

Balak ko sanang ilipat ang TeleRadyo Serbisyo sa dati nitong pahina na DZMM TeleRadyo. Yan ang kasalukuyang pangalan ng telebisyong pangkable ng DWPM, mula nung ibinalik ito ang dati nitong pangalan ng himpilan ng radyo noong Mayo 29. Kaya lang, hindi natuloy dati "Mayroon nang pahina na may ganitong pangalan, o hindi valid ang napiling pangalan". Base sa kasaysayan ng nasabing pahina, nailipat ang pahina ng DZMM TeleRadyo sa TeleRadyo noong 2020, tas muli ito inilipat sa kasalukuyan nitong pangalan noong 2023. The call for candidates for the 2025 Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees selection is now open from June 17, 2025 – July 2, 2025 at 11:59 UTC [1]. The Board of Trustees oversees the Wikimedia Foundation's work, and each Trustee serves a three-year term [2]. This is a volunteer position.
