a. Whilst the 11th Soviet Red Army occupied land under de facto control of the Democratic Republic of Armenia in 1920, the territory was theoretically under British occupation (replacing Ottoman occupation). De jure, the former Nakhichevan Khanate had passed to the Russian Empire after the 1828 Treaty of Turkmenchay, while the Transcaucasian Democratic Federative Republic had been replaced by competing claims from the Democratic Republic of Armenia and the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. In addition, the Azeri Republic of Aras had also declared Nakhichevan as its territory. | |||||||||
Ang Awtonomong Sobyetikong Sosyalistang Republika ng Nakhichevan, karaniwang dinaglat na ASSR ng Nakhichevan (Aseri: Нахчыван МССР, Ruso: Нахичеванская АССР ay awtonomong republika sa loob ng SSR ng Aserbayan. mismo ay isang republika sa loob ng Soviet Union . Ito ay nabuo noong 16 Marso 1921 at naging bahagi ng Azerbaijan SSR proper noong 9 Pebrero 1924.
Ang unang bandila ng Nakhichevan ASSR ay ipinakilala noong 1937 at naglalaman ng parehong Azerbaijani at Armenian na teksto. Noong 1940s, nang ang Azerbaijani Latin alphabet ay pinalitan ng Cyrillic, ang dating bandila ay pinalitan ng isang Soviet flag na may Azerbaijani Cyrillic text na "Нахчыван МССР" sa ginto at isang dark blue na bar sa kahabaan ng fess.[1]
