Ang Hohenstaufen ( /ˈhənʃtfən/ HOH -ən-shtow-fən, /USalsoˌhənˈʃtfən,_ʔstʔ/ -⁠ S (H) TOW -fən,[2][3][4][5] Aleman: [ˌhoːənˈʃtaʊfn̩] ), na tinatawag ding Staufer, ay isang marangal na dinastiya na hindi malinaw na pinagmulan na tumayo upang mamuno sa Dukado ng Suabia mula 1079 at sa paghahari sa Banal na Imperyong Romano noong Gitnang Kapanahunan mula 1138 hanggang 1254.[6] Ang pinakatanyag na hari na sina Federico I (1155), Enrique VI (1191) at Federico II (1220) ay naluklok sa imperyal na trono at pinamunuan din ang Italya at Borgoña . Ang di-kontemporaneong pangalan ay nagmula sa isang kastilyo ng pamilya sa bundok ng Hohenstaufen sa hilagang gilid ng Suabianong Jura malapit sa bayan ng Göppingen.[7] Sa ilalim ng paghahari ni Hohenstaufen natamo ng Banal na Imperyong Romano sa pinakamalaking teritoryo nito mula 1155 hanggang 1268.[8]

  1. The earliest depictions of the Staufer arms show a single lion; for a short time augmented to two lions, and after 1196 three lions or leopards. The tincture or and sable is attested in 1220.[1] The seal of Henry (VII) of Germany (1216) shows three leopards (passant guardant).
