Ang Silliman University ay isang pamantasan na matatagpuan sa Lungsod ng Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, Pilipinas. Ito ay itinatag ng mga Amerikanong misyonaryo noong 28 Agosto 1901 pagkatapos ng giyera sa pagitan ng Espanya at Estados Unidos. Bago naging unibersidad ang pamantasang ito, ang Silliman ay opisyal na tinawag na Silliman Institute bilang parangal sa taong nagbigay ng donasyon upang ito ay maitatag: si Dr. Horace Brinsmade Silliman, isang mangangalakal at aktibong miyembro ng Simbahang Presbytero sa Estados Unidos.[1]

Nagsimula ang Silliman bilang isang paaralan para sa mga batang lalake. Pero noong 1910, ito ay binigyan ng pahintulot ng pamahalaan na magbigay ng mga pormal na degree sa colegio, at noong 1912, nagsimula itong mag-enrol ng mga babaeng estudyante. Sa taong 1938, ang Silliman ay naging unang pamantasan na naging unibersidad sa labas ng Lungsod ng Maynila.[2] Sa kasalukuyan, ito ay binubuo ng sampung kolehiyo, apat na eskwelahan at dalawang institutes.[3]
