Proper translation[baguhin ang wikitext]

@Jojit fb: This category aims to translate "Dependent territory", which we have on tlwiki as Teritoryong panlabas, which means external territory. Dependyente/depende/nakadepende would be a more literal translation, but there is also "umaasang teritoryo" used on this Wiki. What is the best option? For me, "teritoryong panlabas" is a confusing term because it implies an exclave or enclave, which is somewhat different from dependent territory. The term "teritoryong hindi nagsasarili" is not wrong but a mouthful and "nagsasarili" may be a euphemism for a taboo word. "Teritoryong umaasa" is not also wrong but it is not a common term with regards to territory and "umaasa" has a negative connotation in modern vocabularies. I am talking about the phrases "paasa naman 'yan o" and "umaasa lang 'yan sa akin." The second term is a nice way to say "palamunin 'yan", referring to a person who is too dependent on another person. So, the only best option we have is the term "teritoryong dumedepende". Both words are Spanish-derived and easy to understand at first read. Those "katutubong salita" or native words "umaasa" and "hindi nagsasarili" are not readily understood by modern readers. They may think first of the common use of those words rather than the actual word that we are trying to convey for territories. I hope this helps. Thanks. --Jojit (usapan) 01:26, 28 Disyembre 2023 (UTC)[sumagot]
@Jojit fb: Thanks, I fixed it all and made it consistent. --Glennznl (kausapin) 15:40, 28 Disyembre 2023 (UTC)[sumagot]
