Operation Enduring Freedom - Phillipines
[baguhin ang wikitext]Can you please reply with why you added the globalize tag and what you feel can change its need for being there, please note the subject is specifically about the US operation and not the conflict between Phillipines and the two groups, hence the globalize tag does not seem appropriate as there is no larger scope in my opinion. However please reply with what you feel while keeping within the subject would be helpful in satisfying your views. --zero faults |sockpuppets| 17:40, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
Hi 23prootie,
I noticed you edited the Pangasinense people/Pangasinan people data on the Ethnic Groups project. There are two diffrent articles referring to the same group. I suggested a merge, but there doesn't seem to be any interest. Thanks, Ling.Nut 12:11, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
- I suppose I could merge the pages myself, but I don't know anything about the topic. I would just be copy/pasting existing info into a single page. More importantly, I don't know whether the authors of the two pages want to merge, and moreover, I don't know which term is more common (Pangasinense people or Pangasinan).

Sulu Sultanate
[baguhin ang wikitext]Nice work implementing the former country infobox in the Sulu Sultanate article. For future reference, since this template is quite complicated and still under development, a detailed set of instructions for using the template are given here. Visayan culture != Cebuano culture (cat of Elena)
[baguhin ang wikitext]Bay,
Visayan culture is not the same as Cebuano culture. The latter is a subset of the former. Also, since literature falls under culture, and theater falls under literature, I think it is redundant to add Category:Visayan culture to the article. --Bentong Isles 12:31, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
- Well, since Cebuano culture is a subset of Visayan culture, then everything that falls under Cebuano culture must also fall under Visayan culture. I'm just populating the categories.23prootie 19:10, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
Just checking on the removal of Eskaya from the Template:Demographics of the Philippines? --Pinay06 02:20, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
- I made a new template exclusively for the Bisaya. see {{BisayaPeoplesmall}}
23prootie 02:23, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
- I now have doubts whethter or not the eskayans are/were Bisaya so I moved them to Padron:PHTribesmall
23prootie 03:02, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
- Okey. Good job! The templates have been changing a lot, though ha? Anyway, the Eskaya or Visayan-Eskaya are specifically Boholanos and Bisaya. See Visayan-Eskaya. --Pinay06 03:20, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
Hi, the Visayan-Eskaya and Eskaya articles will be merged soon. With regards to the Bisaya vs tribes template, I personally view the Eskaya as a subgroup of Bisaya and not strictly speaking in the same category as other 'highlander' minority groups of the Philippines. However, there are plenty who would dispute this. In conclusion, I think you could get away with putting them in either category. The Eskaya are just one of those ambiguous ones. 58.7.140.252 04:49, 12 December 2006 (UTC)PerezKelly posted here by --Pinay06 05:22, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Eskayan info box
[baguhin ang wikitext]Hi there, the Eskayan info box looks great but unfortunately it doesn't work
- There is not yet any available information on the number of speakers. My own personal estimation is less than fifty but this is not an official figure.
-While Eskayan is a speech variety of Cebuano it cannot be classed as Cebuano via Austronesian, Malayo-polynesian, Meso Philippine etc. This is partly because according to conventional methodologies the genetics of a language are framed primarily through lexical comparison, not grammatical comparison. These classifications emerged from the discipline of historical linguistics which is about finding out the origins of languages. Eskayan most likely emerged in situ for a specific purpose and derived its structure but not vocab from Cebuano. It's a complicated state of affairs. Suffice to say, the Eskayan is like Frankenstein's monster: It has no parents and its various parts were intentionally stitched together from other places.
I suggest you take it down before an outraged historical linguist (like Dalubwika) does it for you!
Thanks for the thought though!

South East Asia
[baguhin ang wikitext]I am about to revert your recent changes to South East Asia. Such a blanking should be explained. If you have a valid reason, an edit summary would make it unnecessary for other editors to contact you. thanks Merbabu 14:00, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
- hmmm - then the info should be removed - not hidden. Except, i don't believe that it is cluttered. Although if it is indeed cluttered, I don't mean to cause offence, i think these edits [3] do not reduce any apparent "clutter". I will have a closer look though. regards Merbabu 14:14, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
Hi, I saw your recent edits have removed a lot of contents. Do you have any reasoning for that? — Indon (reply) — 14:29, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
- I have opened your hiddent comments back. It's okay, no need to apology. I know you were acting it in a good faith. How about copyediting one by one? Remove small unecessary details, but keep good written content as it is. If I had to compare with East Asia, then East Asia article is not a good wikipedia article. The content is not enough. Southeast Asia article (I've never edited this article), in my view, is already good with written descriptions about Culture, Geography, Religion, Politics, etc. However, it still needs a lot of copyediting. So, would you like to go for it? Good luck! :-) — Indon (reply) — 14:41, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

I am confused as to why you deleted Bosnian-Americans and Maltese-Americans and why you added Canadian, Cajun, Pennsylvania Dutch, Amerasian, Melungeon, Louisiana Creole, and Redbone. If you would please explain your reasoning on the discussion page of the template so that everyone is aware of why you made the changes it would be very helpful. In my personal opinion a European American has nothing to do with Canadians, Cajun, Louisiana Creole, Mungeon, or Redbone because all of these are not "fully european" they are mostly mixtures or ethnic groups. Refer to the European American ancestries map for insight as to which groups should be added to the template.--Joebengo 04:21, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
- I went ahead and revised it but there is still doubt whether some of the "others" should be on the list, I'll work on it when I can.--Joebengo 04:34, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
- According to the sourced heading of the article [[European American]s
Qoute:
- A European American, or a Euro-American, is a person who resides in the United States and is either the descendant of European immigrants or from Europe him or herself.
I think the word descendant is enough reason to include them.––23prootie 18:13, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
regarding your edits on BayanMuna
[baguhin ang wikitext]It is important to note that I did not say Filipinos were lazy and inefficient. I said Bayan Muna's policies make it more beneficial for a worker to be lazy and inefficient through rent-seeking behavior. And to prove the point that Bayan's claims of exploitation and the poor being worsed off under a capitalist system one must compare with other countries under such a system. I admit the it wasn't as encyclopeadic as I hoped. But removing the idea of rent-seeking behavior promoted by Bayan Muna is too much. Inflation is just one factor. For an illustration of how increasing wages w/o regard to worker productivity causes inflation go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Gloria_Macapagal-Arroyo#RXN_to_peoplestruth.2C_though_this_is_not_the_right_place
May I ask, have you finished college? (you're 19 but it's possible). Because the issues I have raised are very much connected in an economic sense. I didn't want to have to explain all the forces and theories behind the ideas I wrote; because it is an article on Bayan/Bayan Muna and not an economics article. Which is why I had links to economic concepts so the reader could put 2 and 2 together. Your history of pages edited do not indicate an understanding of economics. If it is unclear and seems biased to you I'm willing to edit. But please put your objections on the discussion page. Responsiblebum 08:00, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- You could revert it if you want but you should really make it encyclopeadic since you said it yourself, it's not. And btw, i does not matter whether I have finished college or not, becuase its not about me.—23prootie 14:05, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- Can you be more specific when you say it is unencyclopeadic. When I say it isn't as much as i hoped, it didn't mean it was completely unencyclopeadic. Regarding whether you finished college or not, I need to know so I have an inkling where you're coming from. Or at least whether you took basic economics. Responsiblebum 14:53, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- Well, before I edited it, I think the whole article is unencyclopeadic. While it did provide sources, the article as a whole portrayed a "negative" bias, specifically poiltical bias, against Bayan Muna. As for my educationaol attainment, why do you need to knw it? If your going to explain something just do it. You don't have to harass me.—–23prootie 15:21, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
Edit to European Americans
[baguhin ang wikitext]Your edit to European Americans can be seen as POV pushing and can be reverted, be sure to explain yourself when making such edits.--Joebengo 02:40, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
- You know waht, It's fine if you don't want to include them but that would self contradict the article.--23prootie 03:30, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
I meant that the primary language for European Americans was and is first and foremost English, German, French etc. The fact that Spanish is widely spoken is the US has no bearing for the languages spoken by the European Americans. That was my point. It had nothing to do with Mexicans. Spanish speakering Americans originally from Europe is way too little compared to German, French, Scandinavian and Anglo-Saxon Americans.. Hello you have added back in references to Timor Leste attending the 2nd EAS. I had removed them (but said why on the discussion page for the East Asia Summit) as I cannot find any source that states Timor Leste was in Cebu for the EAS. I agree Timor Leste is an applicant (and will join) ASEAN and was in Cebu (2 days before the EAS) to sign the TAC but I have not seen any report that Timor Leste was at the EAS proper. Just what language in the CNMI is Sino-Tibetan? Current and historical languages include Chamorro, Spanish, Carolinian, German, Japanese, and English, none of which Sino-Tibetan. HkCaGu 10:11, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
- The language of the Chinese plurality that is over 20% of the population.23prootie 10:30, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
- But: (1) The Chinese language has no legal status. (2) The Chinese aren't residents, just temporary workers who can be all wiped out (sent home) in a matter of years (and it is happening!) (3) A significant portion of them aren't even Han Chinese or of S-T linguistic origin. There is a significant Chinese population in Tonga, Solomon Islands and Panama, but who'd call them "Chinese-speaking countries"? HkCaGu 18:24, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
- My point is that the Chinese population there are just as large or larger than the native Chamorro population, and while no Chinese language has official status there, there's no doubt that it is spoken by a visible part of the population. Anyway, who told you they're not U.S. citizens?23prootie 03:49, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

- It's common knowledge that the Chinese and Filipino "population" are overwhelmingly non-resident (not even eligible to stay in the CNMI after the job's over), with the Chinese mostly being in the garment industry. (The choice to import foreign non-resident laborers is the only reason the Chamorros got outnumbered.) A small number of Chinese businesspeople received CNMI permanent resident status which doesn't give them US green card status thus no path to citizenship. Since the 2000 census (in reality since 2005 WTO tariff regulation changes), half of the factories are closed, and probably half of the Chinese are gone. The rest of the workers will likely disappear soon, leaving only those related to the tourism and supportive industries. HkCaGu 06:04, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi 23prootie,
For the sake of future editing, I'm intrigued to know how the template was almost unreadable (text too small? malfunctioning columns? background? abbreviations?). Thanks in advance for any insight. Thanks also for reformatting the template; as well as looking much improved here (Firefox v2 browser on PC), I realize it's a way to simplify/refine the code for templates such as this (duly added to the to-do list). Meanwhile, I've tweaked a couple of settings, in particular the font-size, so hope all looks fine where you are. Best wishes, David Kernow (talk) 19:40, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

Hello 23prootie. I just wanted to let you know that the model you used to re-arrange the page metropolis might not be the best. The Americas are often divided into two or one continent, but two regions are invariably the same: Central America and the Caribbean and South America. The model you used is rare, based in what is used in other articles here in Wikipedia. I hope you don't mind my reversion.
Perhaps you don't like Central America being called a region of North America, but that is the 7 continents model, and however, the region contains the same countries and the same name: Central America.

Sakizaya
[baguhin ang wikitext]Hi 23prootie,
I remember you've done several good things for articles related to Taiwanese aborigines. However, listing Sakizaya as a living Formosan language is simply not possible. Linguistics is my field of study. I just now did a search on adatabase of linguistics journals. There are no articles in any linguistic journals — none — that even mention Sakizaya as a language or even a dialect... would you please self-revert your edit to Formosan languages? Thanks! Ling.Nut 16:35, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- There, all done.--23prootie 16:37, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks.. but in my opinion, all of that stuff about a Sakizaya language on the Sakizaya people page is also unacceptable. All you have is an article in a popular magazine that mentions a study by ethnologists (not linguists!) and does not even directly mention what the study concluded about their "language" .. and even if it did, it's unpublished... no ... it just won't work at all. I believe every bit of it needs to be deleted. If you like, you can find another linguist to get a second opinion.... Thanks! Ling.Nut 17:30, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- I've hidden it instead so what do you think?23prootie 17:34, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
(undent) I'm gonna ask a linguist with more exp. (and a PhD, which I don't have yet!) for an opinion... Thanks! Ling.Nut 17:37, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- Hello, I am a linguist who has worked on several Wikipedia language articles, and Ling.Nut has asked me to give an opinion on this Sakizaya issue. Unfortunately I have no expertise at all on Formosan languages so I am not in a very good position to have an opinion. What I am able to say is that I know Ling.Nut from exchanges regarding other language-related questions and from the impression I have formed, I respect him as a fellow-linguist (whether or not he has yet obtained his PhD is not particularly relevant to me; neither is the fact that I have one) and I am aware that he is a serious, rigorous student of Formosan languages. For those reasons I would certainly tend to give him credit and take his point of view very seriously if he informs us, as he has done, of his doubts about the Sakizaya language, the lack of creditable scholarly recognition thereof, and the questionability of information given in the corresponding article.
- Beyond that, my opinions cannot be decisive on the matter that seems to divide you, but I am a bit puzzled by the fact that in the table in the article purporting to compare some Sakizaya and Amis words, which cites a popular journalistic source (rarely worth relying on for scientific information!), the forms given are not in fact the same as those given in the source cited. Do you have some other source that you're using for the forms you mention, and if so why haven't you named the source used; and if not, how is it that the forms are different? Just wondering... Cheers, Alan --A R King 15:26, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
- Well... it's kinda in Chinese which I don't speak.-23prootie 22:28, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Barnstar Mockery
[baguhin ang wikitext]On May 7th of this year, at 14:37, the user page User:Dr Spam (MD) was created. Within a period of 48 hours, User:Dr Spam (MD) had placed approximately 55 barnstars on user pages and user talk pages. Many recipients doubted the sincerity of the sentiments behind these barnstars, in part because of the comments placed by Dr Spam on the barnstars. A sampling of the reasons that Dr. Spam offered for presenting barnstars to editors:
- Hi - I am putting this here in case there's trouble later. Please accept this tireless barnstar thing for all of your wiki-activity. Thanks. User:Dr Spam (MD) 16:08, 11 May 2007
- nice one! User:Dr Spam (MD) 16:51, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
- Hi I am leaving you with this barnstar for you to reflect carefully on. I will provide the citation in a few days once you have had the opportunity to consider why I might think that you deserve it. Peace User:Dr Spam (MD) 16:50, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
- Well done for all of your fantastic editing / writing: you are obviously a genius of our day, shining like the brightest barnstar against a dark barnnight in these new and difficult wiki-times. I therefore award you the surreal barnstar (I can't get the other barnstars to work properly - my apologies.) Please note that you have no right to remove the barnstar, for it is sacred. LEAVE WELL ALONE! Many thanks.
- awesome contribution to this web site! have a lovely barnstar thing User:Dr Spam (MD) 12:01, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
- cool editing
- Awesome
- Cool.
- I am awarding you a surreal barnstar because you obviously deserve it! Keep up the good work - don't slacken off, it'll get harder before it gets easier!
- Hy my cat (the fat white one) is awarding you this barnstar of diligence because he doesn't eat fish either. He just likes to eat biscuits - or so he says. But how then does he get so fat????
Occasionally Dr. Spam's comments did appear sincere (if vague), but a review of the record indicates that sincere-appearing comments were generally generated during a massive cut-and-paste session. There were also many barnstars presented with no comments at all, and even more that User:Dr Spam (MD) presented without signing his name to indicate from whom the award was coming.
In response, once this pattern of apparent insincerity was established, a few experienced editors asked Dr. Spam to desist from barnstar spamming, in the belief that randomly awarding barnstars devalues the entire barnstar program. (Indeed, so random was the placement of barnstars, that some were even placed on wiki accounts that had not been active for over a year.) Dr. Spam has now stopped, presumably recognizing that his efforts were not appreciated by the majority of editors.
Most of the barnstars placed by Dr. Spam during his May campaign have been voluntarily removed by the editors on whose pages they were placed. You are receiving this notice because Dr. Spam's barnstar still remains on your page. If you feel that Dr. Spam's barnstar spamming was a form of mockery, you may choose to remove it yourself. But if the way this barnstar was "awarded" does not bother you, you are of course free to keep it on your page. After all, it is your page. This notification was simply for your information. Kayumanggi
[baguhin ang wikitext]Hi 23. I saw your username in tl.wiktionary.:) Just wondering what exactly does "lahing kayumanggi" means. Does it mean Malay race? Is this term widely used in Philippines? Wide enough to be included in the article Malay race? Salamat! kawaputratorque 16:06, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
- Hi! Just saw your post as 23's page is on my watchlist. Lahing kayumanggi literally means "brown race" (lahi = race/enthnicity/nation; kayumanggi = brown). This is one of the common appelations Filipinos use to refer to all Filipinos as a class. The appellation, obviously, refers to the color of their skin; political correctness aside, Filipinos don't have the same skin color as the lahing puti ("white people" = people of European/Caucasian descent) and the lahing itim ("black people" = people of African descent). (One wonders then where people of Sino-Japanese descent and Arabic descent fit in =P) This came from a well-known folk legend about how God or the gods created people, and has been used again and again by some Filipino writers. --- Tito Pao 21:22, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

Can't you wait for the discussion to be resolved, at least? You can edit all you want if the issue is resolved, your edits are against consensus, and even common sense "to say Manila = Metro Manila, ergo, Pasay is in Manila" is wrong and absurd. --Howard the Duck 07:59, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

- BTW, since you reverted more than thrice, you're in violation of the WP:3RR rule. Now the best thing you can do to avoid being blocked is to revert the article to its original state. If you won't do that I'll report you for 3RR. --Howard the Duck 08:35, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
I'm logging out sorry.23prootie (talk) 09:30, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- I'm here to notify you that I've filed a 3RR report against you. See Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/3RR#User:23prootie reported by User:Howard the Duck (Result: ). --Howard the Duck 10:09, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
Please, resolve first the issue before imposing your own version, like in {{Philippine territorial disputes}}. Don't revert to your version unless there is consensus already. --Howard the Duck 10:08, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
3RR
[baguhin ang wikitext]Hi, you've been reported for a 3RR violation on Pinoy Idol and have been blocked from editing for 24 hours. Please take the time to review the 3RR policy. Many thanks, SlimVirgin (talk)(contribs) 15:57, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
Since your block has expired you're free to edit again but please resolve the issue first before reverting for your version, and have patience. I've waited days before doing edits so a 2-minute wait for a reply is a stupid reason to revert to your version. The moment you revert to your version again, I will not hesitate to go to WP:AN/I, and since your activity is rather infrequent, the 24-hour block may mean nothing to you, I'll endorse a longer block time. --Howard the Duck 13:21, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

About Policies, activities and history of the Philippines in Spratly Islands
[baguhin ang wikitext]Hello kababayan. Let's not make the situation go worst. We're on the point on having edit wars. Don't you know consensus. When you tried to edit many things from that article, I tried to revert some, not all, FOR THE SAKE OF CONSENSUS. Yet, it seems you're the type of person who will try his best to edit a page in exact way you want. What are you? A perfect man.
I appreciate your effort in making edits in the article. However, you should concentrate on editing the content than adding too many templates and reorganizing the sections of the article. In the talk page, you included the page in wikiprojects of China, Taiwan, etc., but the article is about Philippines in Spratly islands only. The way you reorganize and rename the sections are inappropriate too. You have reduced Activities and Policies to mere Activities although the Construction subsection deals more with policy than activity. You renamed Guarding Activity to Security. Security is a very vague term. I thought of having it as Security Activity, but that’s a little uncommon term. The subsection titled Guarding Activity is named so because it deals only with how Philippine forces guard the features. If it’s Security, you must at least include other matters relating to the actual security in the area, not just the mere guarding. (FYI, security is not equal to guarding. If you don’t get it, well, I have no time explaining it).
I have deleted one reference you have included. The link you provided there links to an inappropriate page.
On the issue on the title of the article. You moved it to Philippine Claim in Spratly Islands. Maybe you should read the definition of “claim” first. The Philippine claim is not even discussed in the article. Long names are not bad as long as they correctly and sufficiently satisfy the topic of the article.
Before, I have the last section named as Acts against China. You renamed it as Chinese Activity. I realized that my original naming is inaccurate too. However, yours is inaccurate also. Chinese activity can refer to many things. So I’ve retitled it to Response to Illegal fishing. Yet, you have even undone that. I can’t imagine you did that, renaming it instead to Illegal fishing. Then, you also renamed Arrests subsections. The only thing I guess you have a point is the Anti-Chinese sentiments stuff. Yes, it still contains biased statements. Yet, it can’t be avoided since it discusses FILIPINO FEELINGS AGAINST CHINESE POACHING ACITIVITY. The only thing that can neutralize the subsection is to include the rebuttals of the Chinese side. I’m currently working on it.
Please put much effort in editing the content than the editing title sections, the page title and adding inappropriate templates. Cite valid references too. Also, please find CONSENSUS. I give you my sincerest apology for having to PM you like this, it just that I can’t take it any longer. I may not be a member of the Tambayan Philippines, but I have already established quite a good reputation in editing Wikipedia. Almost no other people tried to go against my edits until you had. I hope we can settle this thing immediately.
