Ang Ika-27 Palaro ng Timog Silangang Asya ay isinagawa sa Naypyidaw, ang bagong kabisera ng Myanmar, pati na rin sa mga lungsod ng Yangon, Mandalay, at Ngwesaung Beach. Ito ang ikatlong Palaro na isinagawa sa Myanmar, matapos isagawa ito noong 1961 at 1969 sa Yangon. Umayaw ang Singapore sa pagdadaos ng Palaro dahil sa pagkaantala sa pagtatayo ng New Singapore National Stadium.

A total of 1,531 medals were awarded to athletes, including 461 gold medals, 459 silver medals, and 611 bronze medals. Thailand was the overall champion. Athletics awarded medals in 46 events, the most of any sport at the 2013 SEA Games.[19][20][21]
