Ang Palarong Asyano 2018 o 2018 Asian Games ay ang ika-18 edisyon ng panrehiyong multi-sport event sa Asya na ginanap sa Indonesia mula Agosto 18 – Setyembre 2, 2018. 42 palakasan at disiplina ang itatampok sa naturang palaro.[3] Sa unang pagkakataon, dalawang lungsod ang magsisilbing host ng Palaro, sa Jakarta, ang pambansang kabiserang lungsod, at Palembang, ang kabiserang lungsod ng lalawigan ng South Sumatra.[4] Dagdag pa rito, dalawang kanugnog na lalawigan pa ng Jakarta ang Banten at West Java ang tutulong sa palaro sa paggamit ng mga nakatayo nang sporting venues nito.[5] Inaprubahan ng Olympic Council of Asia na Indonesia ang mag-host ng Palaro noong Setyembre 19, 2014.[6] Sa halip na ganapin ang Palaro sa 2019, idaraos nila ang Palaro sa 2018, upang maiwasan ang pampanguluhang halalan.[7]

Orihinal na napili ang Hanoi, Vietnam upang maging host.[8] Subalit, ito'y umatras dahil nagipit sa pondo.[9]

Palakasan[baguhin | baguhin ang batayan]

Sa opisyal na talaan, may 46 na disiplina mula sa 42 na larangan ng palakasan na pinaglabanan. Ang lahat ng mga larangan ay nagsimula sa pagtatapos ng pambukas na seremonya maliban sa Badminton, Baseball, Basketball, Football, Table tennis, at Volleyball kung saan ang mga pangunang palaro ay naganap bago ang opisyal na pagbubukas ng palaro. Mga Nasyong kalahok ng National Olympic Committees[baguhin | baguhin ang batayan]

Lahat ng 45 bansang miyembro ng Olympic Council of Asia ay nakatakdang sumali sa palaro. Napagkasunduan din na ang Hilagang Korea at Timog Korea ay makikipaligsahan sa mga piling disiplina bilang iisang bansa, tulad ng ginawa nila sa 2018 Winter Olympics.

South Korea and North Korea will be competing in some events as a unified team under the title "Korea" (COR). Both nations will also march together under a unified flag during the opening and closing ceremonies.

Due to the suspension of the National Olympic Committee of Kuwait, participants from Kuwait were allowed to participate under the Olympic Flag as Independent Olympic Athletes.
