I'll do this in English to make it easier for you ;) I've only recently tried to become active here (I have a very, very paltry edit count...don't ask =) so I was wondering if there are any equivalents of some (English) Wikipedia pages and procedures here. In particular, WP:AFD/CFD/TFD/MFD, WP:USETEMP, dispute resolutions processes and other maintenance templates. I have something in mind, but I need to take a look at what's existing here. Hindi ko tinatanong na mas may alam ka sa putbol, ngunit huwag mong diskuwentuhin ang kaalaman ko rito. Mas problematiko naman ang pagsalin ng pamagat dahil inisip ko na kahit may patakarang nagsasabi na gamitin ang mas Tagalog na salita, kailangan natin maging reasonable sa ating pagsasalin: kung may salitang hiniram na kayang ibuod ang dalawa o mas higit pa na bilang ng mga salitang Tagalog na pareho ang kahulugan (hal. kabisera o alkalde [depende sa konteksto] sa halip na punong lungsod/punong bayan), mas mainam na gamitin ang mas maigsing salita. Kung maiiklian ng putbol ang sipaan ng bola (na maaari ring mangahulugang "kickball", na palakasan rin), dapat malinaw ang ating pagsasalin.

Hindi natin matatanggihan iyan dahil kahit nga ngayon, may mga ilan na ring nagrereklamo na "masyadong mahirap" daw ang Tagalog na gamit natin dito, at dapat kinukunsidera natin, unang-una, ang kapakanan ng ating mga mambabasa.

Hindi ako tumututol sa patakaran dahil ako ay isa sa mga nagbigay-hugis sa iyon. Ngunit kailangan rin natin ng mas flexible na pagbabasa nito (isipin mo: kahit kung hindi nararapat gamitin ang Intsik ngayon dahil makasama daw ito, ito pa rin ang ginagamit natin sa halip na Tsino, na walang malisya, dahil lang "mas Tagalog" raw iyon). Multi-Writing systems

Greetings Mr. Sky Harbor,

Just to let you know, I have created two separate versions of this article, to honor the two major ways of writing the Tagalog language text. Please see, for example, this page, to see what I mean. The versions makes use of Runic, Latin and and Wynn orthographies. I'm not so sure I call Baybayin "major". Almost all Filipinos write in Latin, and only very few people use Baybayin on a regular basis. Heck, even I use Latin. Nais ko po ring bigyan ng pansin na parehong-pareho ang istilo ng pag-eedit ng IP address na ito sa mga edit ng mga naharang na IP addresses na 121.1.31.14 at 203.111.235.50.
• Tagagamit:Jollybsoriano - Ginagamit ang kanyang Pahinang usapang tagagamit sa pampersonal na kadahilanan at nilalagyan niya ito ng mga akdang may kalaswaan.

Gayundin, hindi dahil nai-prensa ang isang aklat (halimbawa, noong dekada 60) ay nangangahulugang tama ito at sa gayon ay siyang dapat gamitin bilang sanggunian ng kaalaman dito sa Wikipedia. Bagaman wala akong naaalalang artikulo na sinulatan ko ng "maling paghihiram;" kung mayroon man ay bukas ang Wikipedia sa kunsinumang nais umayos nito. Gayumpaman, karamihan (kundi lahat) sa mga pagbabago ko ay may kaukulang sanggunian na kung tutuusin ay mas matimbang kaysa sa mga naunang ambag. Laking-gulat ko na ang lumabas ay, sa katunayan, Letonya. Agad ko itong idinagdag bilang isa aking dalawang pinagsasanggunian sa katagang iyon. Isa pa, atin pong isipin na daan-daang taon nang may akmang katawagan ang mga Kastila sa mga basang yaon sa Europa, at ang wikang Kastila ang ating pangunahing kaugnayan sa mga bagay-bagay na Europeo. Maaaring sa pag-aaral at paglalakbay ng ating pambansang bayani na si Jose Rizal, na isang nagka-Kastila, ay ginamit niya ang mga wastong pangalan na Argelia at Letonia, hindi ang mga (ipaumanhin ang salita...) "pambababoy" na mga katagang Alherya o Latbiya na kung tutuusin ay walang-pinanggalingan kundi ang iisang aklat na iyon. Bakit hindi natin mas naisin na gamitin ang siyang ginamit ni Dr. Rizal? Aren't Catholic Church terms with no local counterpart translated into Spanish by default anyway when borrowing into Philippine languages, including Tagalog? After all, we don't have "Taglish" Bibles, for example. But regardless, the use of language on the Tagalog Wikipedia since the enactment of language policies (such as WP:SALIN, et al.) has always followed the following convention when borrowing terms:

Tagalog -> other Philippine languages -> Spanish -> English

This convention dates back to the 1987 Ortograpiya, and has been carried over to the Tagalog Wikipedia's interpretation of the 2008 Ortograpiya, especially since the two orthographical proclamations are virtually the same. --Sky Harbor ^(usapan) 16:58, 29 Mayo 2011 (UTC)

For convenience or maybe their lax of finding equivalent terms in Tagalog, English is now widely accepted, except in cases that there are already established equivalents.

Just like what I've messed up, Imperyong British should be the new term, as "Britaniko" is archaic. So much so, you don't say Kastila anymore rather you say "Español" and "España" instead of "Espanya." Can you just fix the British Empire redirects for me please. As far as I'm concerned, "Britaniko" is still accepted, and the article has stood there for quite some time. I have always used "Espanyol" though over "Kastila", and "Tsino" over "Intsik". The orthography is also clear in that if we borrow terms from Spanish, we conform to Filipino spelling (using niy/ny over ñ, for example). With respect to country names, it is accepted practice to translate them should translations exist because many country names have accepted Filipino equivalents (published in dictionaries or other sources, like the Bible) which have fallen out of use due to the influence of Taglish. I have previously encountered this scenario in en.wiki regarding "Josh Fernandez". The user keeps on posting his so-called "Salt&Light Radio" internet radio station and a personal page of his (even a Facebook photo of his) there and after both articles were deleted via AFD, he created several sockpuppets and reposted the same articles over and over again. All sockpuppets were blocked via SPI. In the case of Jezrell Olarte, IMO, he can be blocked on the basis of sockpuppetry. -WayKurat 18:17, 29 Hunyo 2011 (UTC)

I would also like to add if you can block this user for recreating a hoax article (112.202.72.28). The said anon keeps on creating an article about Sabrina: The Animated Series but if you read the contents, it looked like the show involved co-producing it with a bus company. The IP address is a crosswiki vandal and was involved in vandalizing the Erich Gonzales article in en.wiki (see sample) and was blocked there since March 10. We here in Canada (I live in Montreal) and the whole world feel for every Filipino victim or affected by the tragedy. On this occasion I dedicate to you and all the Filipinos this very special song so dear to my heart from a Danish act called Majid with his sweet words and with beautiful vocals from another Danish act, Burhan G, an urban hip hop cover of an American famous song by Bill Withers "Lean on Me" by Majid featuring Burhan G.
On a lighter note, I see you are related to Makati City Lungsod ng Makati and studied at Pamantasang Ateneo de Manila. So your greetings couldn't have come from a more relevant colleague. I worked on two Tagalog pages both closely related to Ateneo sports program although I don't know any Tagalog. Mind you, I can read Tagalog, this fascinatingly phonetic language with ease and can follow any Tagalog song quite well and perfectly sing with it LOL... As my first venture into Tagalog Wikipedia, I created (tried at least) a Tagalog page for Filipino basketball player John Paul Erram who is born in Makati actually and is from Ateneo University, exactly like you. I also expanded quite a lot on the Tagalog page of basketball player Rabeh Al-Hussaini which I was surprised was just a one-liner that said: "Si Rabeh Al-Hussaini ay isang ay isang Pilipinong manlalaro ng basketbol na kasapi ng Philippine Basketball Association"... Not much information I thought... Now after my edits, it represents him very well and article is hopefully more informative. Here is a video of Rabeh playing in Ateneo in 2008.. I was just fascinated by his skills and the whole atmosphere in the stadium. As a token of goodwill, and since I knew Rabeh Al-Hussaini would be interesting to Arab readers because he originates from Bahrain of Filipino origin, and is a well-known professional sportsman, I also created today a brand new page in Arabic Wikipedia for this famous Ateneos University player and MVP. See the Arabic page I created on Al-Hussaini at: ( ar:رابع الحسيني ). The article is dedicated to you for your welcome note. Please Josh do visit the two Tagalog pages I created (on John Paul Erram and Rabeh Al-Hussaini) for a brief look if they are ok at least. Thanks.
PS. As a side note, I just love Filipino music and Filipino films. What impressed me early on though was one en:Josh Santana because of his crossover to Spanish and American music like here in these videos "Dreaming of You" or "Eres Tú" and my favorite "Can't Help Fallin in Love" song. I am hopelessly hooked to this last one... It is so cute... I worked quite a lot on the English page en:Josh Santana but I was surprised Josh Santana does not have a Tagalog page at all. How can this be? Is he not popular in the Philippines? Not even with en:Bituin ? Other music favourites of mine of Filipino descent are Americans AJ Rafael (from California) and JR Aquino (from Alaska). They have been on American Idol and The Voice and are quite popular YouTube sensations with massive materials and following. Yet no articles in Tagalog on these Fil-Ams... Here is Wikipedia page for AJ en:AJ Rafael.. JR also had a page until recently in English Wikipedia, but it was cancelled there very recently. Fortunately I conserved a copy on my personal User page here en:User:Werldwayd/Articles-Test41 .

I am not using this, mind you, as a launch pad for requesting pages for new articles from you, that's not my intention at all. And you have far more worries than some stupid articles I care for or artists I am aware of and have some sympathy for... Far from it! But some time down in the future, these three singers (Josh Santana, AJ Rafel and JR Aquino) are certainly worth looking into and having a possible paragraph or two on them in Tagalog... Just saying.... Finally, my favourite Filipino movie is en:Ang Lihim ni Antonio, which I saw four times, and again, it doesn't have a Tagalog page although the film is in Tagalog. The song from the soundtrack just haunts me even now. It is called Awit para kay Antonio. It is by one Ahit Hardasani, and if he had written this song only, it would have been enough. All I know about this Filipino guy is that he wrote songs for a number of films by Filipino gay film director Joselito Altarejos who I like very much. While the Tagalog Wikipedia community is tight-knit, it is quite small, and many of us are taxed to our limits when it comes to making articles and the like. In time, though, I hope this will change, especially as we begin promoting the project more heavily. And I have no relation whatsoever to the Philippines although I have great admiration to Filipino people, music and film, the only ways I would feel any connection as these are pretty international. I am a Lebanese Armenian editor now naturalized Canadian and residing in Montreal since 10 years. My parents and grandparents originate from Turkey... In any case, an area I helped a lot was to link the Tagalog article to their equivalent pages mainly for all the Filipino basketball players. So when they find a brief article on basketballers, they can easily click for a larger English page. Many have quite developed English Wikipedia pages. I can also work by deduction from existing pages to create similar pages for others... I do edit in more than 20 other languages, so I have the skills to adapt. I also created disambiguation pages for Ahmad and Mahmud. I know your resources are too stretched. My requests do not have priority. Don't worry about those, only if you have adequate time. Again my sympathies for the Filipinos on the tragedy they are passing through. I was hearing the news about the Philippines and suddenly this song came on. So I dedicate to you. An important message about renaming users

Dear Sky Harbor, My aplogies for writing in English. Please translate or have this translated for you if it will help. I am cross-posting this message to many places to make sure everyone who is a Wikimedia Foundation project bureaucrat receives a copy. If you are a bureaucrat on more than one wiki, you will receive this message on each wiki where you are a bureaucrat.

As you may have seen, work to perform the Wikimedia cluster-wide single-user login finalisation (SUL finalisation) is taking place. This may potentially effect your work as a local bureaucrat, so please read this message carefully.

Why is this happening? As currently stated at the global rename policy, a global account is a name linked to a single user across all Wikimedia wikis, with local accounts unified into a global collection. Previously, the only way to rename a unified user was to individually rename every local account. This was an extremely difficult and time-consuming task, both for stewards and for the users who had to initiate discussions with local bureaucrats (who perform local renames to date) on every wiki with available bureaucrats. The process took a very long time, since it's difficult to coordinate crosswiki renames among the projects and bureaucrats involved in individual projects.

The SUL finalisation will be taking place in stages, and one of the first stages will be to turn off Special:RenameUser locally. This needs to be done as soon as possible, on advice and input from Stewards and engineers for the project, so that no more accounts that are unified globally are broken by a local rename to usurp the global account name. Once this is done, the process of global name unification can begin. The date that has been chosen to turn off local renaming and shift over to entirely global renaming is 15 September 2014, or three weeks time from now. In place of local renames is a new tool, hosted on Meta, that allows for global renames on all wikis where the name is not registered will be deployed.

Your help is greatly needed during this process and going forward in the future if, as a bureaucrat, renaming users is something that you do or have an interest in participating in. The Wikimedia Stewards have set up, and are in charge of, a new community usergroup on Meta in order to share knowledge and work together on renaming accounts globally, called Global renamers. Stewards are in the process of creating documentation to help global renamers to get used to and learn more about global accounts and tools and Meta in general as well as the application format. As transparency is a valuable thing in our movement, the Stewards would like to have at least a brief public application period. If you are an experienced renamer as a local bureaucrat, the process of becoming a part of this group could take as little as 24 hours to complete. You, as a bureaucrat, should be able to apply for the global renamer right on Meta by the requests for global permissions page on 1 September, a week from now.

In the meantime please update your local page where users request renames to reflect this move to global renaming, and if there is a rename request and the user has edited more than one wiki with the name, please send them to the request page for a global rename.

Stewards greatly appreciate the trust local communities have in you and want to make this transition as easy as possible so that the two groups can start working together to ensure everyone has a unique login identity across Wikimedia projects. Completing this project will allow for long-desired universal tools like a global watchlist, global notifications and many, many more features to make work easier.

Wikipedia Asian Month update

Hi Sky Harbor

After nearly three months of preparation, Wikipedia Asian Month will start in a few days. Here are some changes and action items that need to be done in the next few days before the event starts:

• As we discussed on meta, if the article is a list, it will not count. However, on the English Wikipedia, the rules have been changed so that a list that is promoted to a Featured List will be counted. Other Wikipedias that also have Featured Lists (BN, BA, FA, KO, HI, ID, JA, RU, UK, UR and ZH) are invited to consider and add this rule.
• There will be two CentralNotice banners used during the event. Please translate these into your language. It should take a maximum of 3 minutes. One is for Ongoing, another is for ending. It will generate huge impact!

  If you have any question regarding the banner in your language Wikipedia, free feel to leave a message on meta.

• Any Asian topic will be counted. Topics do not have to be about geopgraphy. You can make a clear statement so that participants understand this.
• For smaller communities, it is okay to reduce the standard from 3500 bytes and 300 words. I will suggest no lower than 2500 Bytes and 200 words. Please report this change on meta.
• I will make a short video demo about how to use the judging tool. This should be done no later than November 10. I would recommend organizers not start judging articles before that if you plan to use the judging tool.
• Ask some Wikipedians in your community to assist you if you are the only organizer. Tell them most work has already been done. There is only a little work for being an organizer from this point forward.
• For any questions or thought about Wikipedia Asian Month, you can leave a message here. I'm monitoring this page 12 hours everyday.

One Week Left!

Hi there!

Thank you for volunteering to organize Wikipedia Asian Month - we are doing something amazing! We are expecting to have 1,000 participants improving over 1,500 articles, possibly making Wikipedia Asian Month the largest long-term edit-a-thon ever. Here are a few tasks that need to be completed at the end of the event, as well as some tips you can take to achieve greater success.
Requirements:

1. Check all submitted articles before 15th December, 2015, and send me a data set that includes: total number of submitted articles, number of qualified articles, total number of participants, and articles selected for DYK. For the few Wikipedias that allow article expansions, please also send me the number of new articles vs. improved articles. Use this page to submit results.
2. List all qualified organizers, up to five on each Wikipedia. Qualified organizers are ones who work actively; those who only have their name on the page or just made a few constructive edits for the event (less than, say, 5-10 edits) will not be counted. Due 20th December, 2015. Use this page to submit organizers.
3. List all qualified editors who can receive a postcard on here at meta. Also, please determine the Wikipedia Asian Ambassador of this year. For some Wikipedias, we are also honoring the second greatest contributor as an ambassador, as long as they have created at least 30 articles. Please talk with me about these potential additional Ambassadors. Due 25th December, 2015. Use this page to submit Ambassadors.
4. Create a local results page. A sample page will be provided soon. Due 30th December, 2015.

Tips and Extras:

1. Place {{WAM talk 2015}} on talk pages of qualified articles to record that it was created as a part of Wikipedia Asian Month. If your Wikipedia does not have an equivalent template, make one! See this talk page example to see the template in action.
2. Translate the message at this page. This message will be sent to all participants on your local Wikipedia to encourage their participation. Let me know when you finish the translation. For some Wikipedias that have fewer editors, you can send it by yourself.
3. If you haven't started to check articles, try to give at least one result to each participant to let them know their contribution are qualified, or why they do not qualify.
4. If you find out that some editors on your local Wikipedia are editing Asian Content but haven't sign up yet, send them a short invitation to ask them join. All edits made in November will be counted regardless of when the editor signed up.

Rules Clarification:

• Since it is hard for organizers to keep the checking process very quickly, and may cause some editors who submit five articles being told one of their article does not qualified after the end November. We will still send postcards to those who submit five articles but one of those does not qualified with a minor problem. Minor problems include:
  1. Needs a few words to reach 300 words.
  2. Has a less-important issue tag.
  3. Needs to count one or two edits in the end of October or beginning of December to be qualified.

We made it! The first edition of Wikipedia Asian Month has successfully ended! While your efforts are still needed since the wrap up stage is another big challenge for us. I understand everyone is busy in December, I will trying to cover everything we need in this message, hopefully can make this easier.
Guideline

1. Check all submitted articles before 15th December, 2015.
   1. When you do so, please make a category that includes all articles of WAM. My approach is using the {{WAM talk 2015}} on the talk page of all articles, and generate a category for talk page.
   2. If you already submitted result on this page, please take a look that I add another column for articles selected for DYK. It could take a while for DYK process, you can fill that column later.
   3. You don't need to provide bytes column since I'm looking for a easy way to not brother us too much.
   4. When you checking articles, if you ever find an article submitted about Bashkortostan, Russia, please list them out. Bashkortostan community would like to send a postcard to whoever create that article.
2. List all qualified organizers, up to five on each Wikipedia. Qualified organizers are ones who work actively; those who only have their name on the page or just made a few constructive edits for the event (less than, say, 5-10 edits) will not be counted. Due 20th December, 2015. Use this page to submit organizers.
3. As you submit the qualified participants on this page, please also use P, O and A to mark them so I can know how many postcards should they receive. P(Participant), O(Organizers), A(Ambassadors). Please review the page if you submitted already. This is due 25th December, 2015 as previously mentioned.
4. We will make a barnstar for whoever contribute to Wikipedia Asian Month, a user box for whoever accomplish the mission, and a ribbon bar for Ambassadors. It will be distribute after we have all qualified editors.

Further Actions

1. You are welcome to submit an blog post draft for Wikimedia Blog at here about Wikipedia Asian Month in your local community, a specific story is more welcomed. I will help on that, and maybe integrate stories from different communities together to make a enough length articles. So don't hesitate to submit a short paragraph.
   1. A specific story about WAM. Like how some volunteers contribute in the event makes them special.
   2. A one sentence statement from you or participants about how you feel about Wikipedia Asian Month; why you like the event; what do you think we need to improve next year
   3. A short introduction about your community if it has not been introduced yet on Wikimedia Blog. Goals, current problems, why your community special etc.
2. Sorry for the rough pages on meta. I will make a more beautiful page for all organizers and Ambassadors to honor their great contribution for Wikipedia.
3. Next year: Many communities show their interest to hold this event again next year. We want to plan it in advance. If you represent a Wikimedia affiliate in Asia, please considering to include around 100 U.S. dollars in your annual grant application or similar. So Wikipedians around world can have a taste on your country or region next year! A mail list will be set up and inform you in next update. Article ideas

I wonder if it's a good idea to make articles in Tagalog about Philippine schools abroad. It means a Pinoy in Greece or Saudi may help improve Tagalog coverage of the area where he/she lives.

Hi WAM organizers!

Hope you receive your postcard successfully! Now it's a great time to sign up at the 2016 WAM, which will still take place in November. Here are some updates and improvements we will make for upcoming WAM. If you have any suggestions or thoughts, feel free to discuss on the meta talk page.

1. We will launch a pre-event, which is new-user exclusive training event, that will help new users get involved in the Wikipedia community and contribute more in the Asian Month.
2. We want to host many onsite Edit-a-thons all over the world this year. If you would like to host one in your city, please take a look and sign up at this page.
3. We will largely improve the tool, that participants can directly report their contribution on the tool, and will be easier for judges to use.

  • According to the tool's limit, IP users can not participate. Please encourage them register an account.

Localization

• Please localize this template and used on sign up page. I will update the template once the tool is ready to be used.

Stragety

  • IMPORTANT: Asian Language Wikipedia will exclude the language speaking country from the Asian Month so we can encourage editors write something about other part of Asia. E.g., Chinese Wikipedia will exclude Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. Indian language Wikipedia will exclude India. If you have problems with that, please let me know.
  • I've posted the tool instruction and newest postcard rules on each Wiki' event page. Make sure you translate it. In short: 4 articles get one card, 15 get another one (Special one), and the Ambassador gets another one.

• Here are some recent updates for you, and as always, let me know if you have any idea, thought or question.
  • Additional souvenirs (e.g. Stickers, bookmarks) will sent to Ambassadors and active organizers.
  • I'm doing some basic statistics at Result page every week, in case you are interested.
• I've already sent noticfication to global top 20 users that WMF will give global top 3 contributors a free Wikimedia T-shirt. Here are the rules:
  • A participant's article count is combined on all language Wikipedias they have contributed to
  • Only Wikipedia Asian Month on Wikipedia projects will count (no WikiQuote, etc.)
  • The global top 3 article count will only be eligible on Wikipedias where the WAM article requirement is at least 3,000 Bytes and 300 words.
  • Please make sure enforce the rules, such as proper references, notability, and length.
  • International organizers will double check the top 3 users' accepted articles, so if your articles are not fulfilling the rules, you might be disqualified. We don't want it happened so please don't let us make such a decision.
  • Rest of Global top 10 users will also get some WAM souvenirs.

WAM Tool Update

Hi WAM organizers, due to unexpected maintenance on wmfLabs, which host our judging tool, the tool is currently down and can not be used in around next 48 hours or less. Hi WAM organizers! It's now half way! Good job! Here are some updates:

• As many of you may notice, that the judging tool has came back to normal.
• I've set up a result page with some numbers in it. It may not accurate, just as a reference at this time.
• WAM should get more media coverage. If you can help (either locally or internationally), please let me know!
• Please considering start judging articles if you have not yet. it's really important to give feedbacks to participants so they can improve articles or get motivated.
• With your help, I may start the first round of address collection before WAM ends for who already have four accepted articles and organizers, as I promised to improve the postcard sending process this year.

Here are what will come after the end of WAM

• Make sure you judge all articles before December 5th, and participants who can improve their contribution (not submit) before December 10th.
• Participates still can submit their contribution in November before December 2nd at this page. Please let your local wiki participates know. Once you finish the judging, please update this page after December 5th
• There will be three round of address collection scheduled: December 2nd, December 7th, and December 20th.
• Please report the local Wikipedia Asian Ambassador (who has most accepted articles) on this page, if the 2nd participants has more than 30 accepted articles, you will have two ambassadors.
• I will announce the name of Wikipedians who will able to pick a Wikimedia T-shirt from Wikimedia Store for free after I re-check their contributions.

Some Questions

• It could be a case that local organizer does not agree on an article if shall accept it or not. In this situation, the judging tool will highlight the conflict articles in the "article's list". Please review other's opinion, and resolve the conflict by changing your decision or discuss with other judges.

User:Bagas Chrisara from indonesian wikipedia, said that the article about Astro Liecharlie (李和星) is proved to be false and hoax (see here and here). Page Setup

• Our Sample page is ready to be translated. There are only a few adjustments if you had this page for 2016 already.
  • Article Requirement is 4
  • Article criteria are 3k bytes and 300 words. NO 2k bytes for smaller Wikipedia.
  • According to the tool's limit, IP users can not participate. Please encourage them to register an account.

Localization

• Please localize this template and used on sign up page. I will update the template once the tool is ready to be used.
• You may localize this page, but you can also just put a link towards the meta page. m:Wikipedia Asian Month/QA

Strategy

• You may have to invite some of your Wikipedia friends or active Wikipedians from your home WIKI to help you organize.
• You may have to send some invitation to last year participants, active Wikipedians, and Wikipedians who has a special interest.
• Central Notice will be used. You may use the Site Notice if you don't see the CN is deployed.

Reward

• We will keep sending postcards (new design) this year, and as an organizer, you will receive an additional postcard as well.

I’m Erick, the coordinator of WAM 2017. Thanks for your effort and help at m:Wikipedia Asian Month 2017! Here are some more information about organizational matter of the event at a national level.

You are receiving this message because you have signed up as a organizer or in the list.

Timeline

The event has started and will end in the November 30th 23:59 (UTC). However, we are late for some matter. So we need your help:

• Invite previous participants and your community members to join. We have a template you can use.
• Translate Central Notice for your community (more instruction below) as well as sending a notice in village pump. Go public!
• Become the jury member in a campaign on Fountain which is an amazing tool for you to supervise participants’ articles. If you don’t have the campaign set up, please contact us! And put a link to your community’s campaign page for participants’ navigation.
• Organize a off-site editathon event. A coffee bar, internet and laptops. Though it’s optional. If you want to do that, please contact me.

In the following days, you should answer the questions from your community and supervise the submissions. Hope you have fun!

Prepare Central Notice

Central Notice shows a banner on the top of pages in your wiki project along the event timeframe. We will use this to engage with audience. Steps:

1. Translate, change logo and link to event page. Find your project's Central Notice here. For example, we can change the banner for Chinese Wikipedia here.
2. When you mark the 4 items (translation) as done. I'll enable the central notice in your language for this month.

Special Prize

  • In case of redirection not allowed submitting in Fountain tool, a workaround is to delete it, copy and submit again. Or a submission page can be used too.
  • Please make sure enforce the rules, such as proper references, notability, and length.
  • International organizers will double check the top 3 users' accepted articles, so if your articles are not fulfilling the rules, they might be disqualified. We don't want it happened so please don't let us make such a decision.

Invitation to Organize Wiki Loves Love 2019

Wiki Loves Love (WLL) is an International photography competition of Wikimedia Commons to subject love testimonials happening in the month of February 2019.

The primary goal of the competition is to document love testimonials through human cultural diversity such as monuments, ceremonies, snapshot of tender gesture, and miscellaneous objects used as symbol of love; to illustrate articles in the worldwide free encyclopedia Wikipedia, and other Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) projects. February is around the corner and Wiki Loves Love team invites you to organize and promote WLL19 in your country and join hands with us to celebrate love and document it on Wikimedia Commons. The theme of 2019 is Festivals, ceremonies and celebrations of love.

To organize Wiki Loves Love in your region, sign up at WLL Organizers page. You can also simply support and spread love by helping us translate the commons page in your local language which is open for translation.

The contest starts runs from 1-28 February 2019. How we will see unregistered users

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. Here are the basic guidance and regulations for organizers. Please remember to:

1. use Wikipedia Asian Month 2022 Programs & Events Dashboard. , or else you and your participants’ will not be able to receive the prize from WAM team.
2. Add your language projects and organizer list to the meta page 1 week before your campaign start date.
3. Inform your community members WAM 2022 is coming!!!
4. If you want WAM team to share your event information on Facebook / twitter, or you want to share your WAM experience/ achievements on our blog, feel free to send an email to info@asianmonth.wiki.

If you want to hold a thematic event that is related to WAM, a.k.a. WAM sub-contest. The process is the same as the language one.

Here are some updates from WAM team:

1. Based on the COVID-19 pandemic situation in different region, this year we still suggest all the Edit-a-thons are online, but you are more then welcome to organize local offline events.
2. The international postal systems are not stable, WAM team have decided to send all the qualified participants/ organizers a digital Barnstars.
